Dr. Bo FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who is Dr. Bo and why did he create these products?

Dr. Bo Wagner, Sr. was a board-certified chiropractor and clinical nutritionist who dedicated his life to helping people improve their health through cleansing and natural nutrition. He created Dr. Bo products to give individuals simple, effective ways to support detoxification, digestion, and overall wellness. Over the years, he became known as a trusted wellness expert to Hollywood celebrities, professional athletes, and families alike.

Today, his son Dr. Brett Wagner — also known as Dr. Bo Jr. — continues the tradition. A former semi-professional athlete with deep expertise in health and wellness, Brett carries forward his father’s mission by creating cleansing and detox products designed for the modern world.

I’m new to cleanses…where should I start?

Cleansing helps the body reset, remove built-up waste, and function more efficiently. If you’re new to cleansing, start off with a low dosage to allow your body time to adjust to the new herbs/ingredients. Starting small gives your body the chance to adjust, while still delivering noticeable results.

What’s better for me — capsules or liquids?

It really comes down to preference. Liquids can be easier for those who don’t like swallowing pills, and they also allow for more flexible dosing. Capsules, on the other hand, are convenient for travel and quick daily use. Some of our customers who don’t have a strong preference like having both on hand — liquids at home for easy swallowing and absorption, capsules when they’re on the go.

Should I do bloodwork testing before taking supplements?

Some people choose to get bloodwork before starting a supplement regimen so they can establish a baseline and track changes over time. While it isn’t required, it may help you and your healthcare provider make more informed decisions about your wellness journey.

Where are Dr. Bo products made?

All Dr. Bo products are proudly made in the USA. We source high-quality ingredients from trusted suppliers in the United States and around the world when not available in the U.S., and every product is manufactured under strict quality and safety standards here in the United States of America.

Does Dr. Bo test products for quality?

Yes! Every batch of Dr. Bo supplements goes through rigorous testing to verify safety, purity, label accuracy, and quality control. Our testing includes checks for content claims (to ensure you’re getting exactly what the label says), as well as screenings for potential contaminants such as microbials, heavy metals, and other impurities.

We are also actively expanding our certifications and testing standards, like USDA Organic, Clean Label Project Certified, GFCO Certified, and Non-GMO Certified, to ensure the cleanest, highest-quality formulas possible. At Dr. Bo, we believe transparency builds trust — and our goal is to make sure you always feel confident choosing our products as part of your health journey.

What is the Clean Label Project, and why does it matter?

Clean Label Project is an independent nonprofit dedicated to improving transparency in the health and wellness industry. Unlike basic federal standards — which set only the minimum requirements for safety — Clean Label Project tests products for hundreds of environmental and industrial contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, and plasticizers. These are substances that may not always be captured in routine safety checks but can still impact long-term wellness.

To earn Clean Label Project Certification, products are purchased at retail and tested in ISO-accredited laboratories. They are screened against some of the strictest benchmarks in the country, including California’s Proposition 65 standards for chemicals of concern. Certified products don’t just meet the minimum — they exceed them. Once certified, products continue to undergo random annual testing to ensure ongoing compliance.

At Dr. Bo, we see Clean Label Project Certification as more than a seal — it’s a commitment to holding ourselves to a higher standard of purity and safety. We believe that when you’re making decisions about your health, you deserve complete confidence in what you’re putting in your body.

That’s why we are proud to share that more and more of our products are Clean Label Project Certified. This certification reflects our mission to carry forward Dr. Bo’s legacy of natural wellness while meeting the expectations of today’s health-conscious consumer: clean, trustworthy, effective products.

Does Dr. Bo test for heavy metals?

Yes. Every batch of Dr. Bo products is tested for heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury. These elements occur naturally in soil and water, but at higher levels they can pose health risks. That’s why we make heavy metal testing a core part of our quality process.

You may have heard of California’s Assembly Bill 899 (AB 899), which requires manufacturers of certain products — like baby foods and supplements marketed for children under two — to test for and disclose heavy metal levels. Even though most Dr. Bo products are not in that category, our testing standards already align with and exceed what AB 899 requires.

We don’t test because the law says we have to — we test because your health and trust matter most. By going above the minimum, we ensure that you can feel confident about the purity, safety, and integrity of every Dr. Bo formula.

We don’t currently offer sample sizes, but you can shop confidently with The Dr. Bo Promise. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, simply contact us within 30 days of your order date for a refund, exchange, or store credit.

Does Dr. Bo add sugar or alcohol to the formulas?

Great question! None of Dr. Bo’s supplements contain drinking alcohol, and most are completely free from added sugars. In a few formulas — like our Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies and Fiber Gummies — you’ll see ingredients such as glucose syrup, sugar, or chicory root fiber. These are used in very small amounts to make gummies taste great and hold their shape.

It’s important to know that these ingredients are not the same as adding table sugar or alcohol to a supplement. For example, chicory root fiber is a natural prebiotic, and sugar alcohols (also called polyols, found in other brands) aren’t true alcohols at all. They are a type of carbohydrate that the body digests differently, converting to glucose more slowly and often with fewer calories than sugar.

So while a couple of our gummy products include natural sweeteners to make them enjoyable, the vast majority of Dr. Bo’s capsules, powders, and liquids are completely free from added sugars. And rest assured — no products contain drinking alcohol of any kind.
