Glucosamine & Chondroitin Formula with Turmeric & MSM
90 Veggie Capsules

The ingredients in Dr. Bo Glucosamine Chondroitin have been shown to be effective for support and relief of muscle, joint, bone, ligament and cartilage pain and disorders, as well as help build healthy collagen, skin protein and connective tissue in knees and joints. I recommend replenishing your body with these ingredients in order to maintain ongoing good, joint health.

Gluten FREE, Casein FREE (GFCF) Formula.

As we get older we stop producing the ingredients that helps us maintain good joint, bone, cartilage, connective tissue and ligament health. Basically we run out gas. We need to refill the tank and replenish these fundamental components.

Glucosamine Sulfate

More than a dozen controlled clinical trials in Europe and the UK have shown glucosamine sulfate to be as good or better than NSAIDS in treating joint health. The studies report a positive impact on cartilage metabolism without adverse side effects. Glucosamine is a naturally occurring simple sugar component which is the building block of larger complex sugars called glycosaminoglycans. Glycosaminoglycans form the gel-like ground substance found in connective tissue, mucous secretions and synovial fluid. Glucosamine sulfate is the preferred form of glucosamine for therapeutic use. It is an effective means of providing glucosamine orally as a building block for the regeneration of cartilage and glycosaminoglycans lost during the progression of osteoarthritis.

Glucosamine sulfate has been shown to play an important role both in preserving the integrity of the tissue and in restoring this integrity after tissue injury, inflammation or degeneration.

Chondroitin Sulfate

Chondroitin sulfate contains several molecules known as glycosaminoglycans (GAGS) or mucopolysaccharides. Chondroitin is composed of repeating units of glucosamine sulfate with attached sugar molecules. Because chondroitin is a larger molecule, it is often combined with an enzyme such as bromelain to help free its glucosamine and make it more absorbable. Recent studies have shown that glucosamine sulfate and Chondroitin sulfate, two naturally occurring substances normally present in the cartilage of the joints, out perform standard arthritis drugs in reducing long-term pain, joint tenderness and swelling.1

Chondroitin has also been shown to block or neutralize the enzyme that destroys cartilage. Using chondroitin in combination with glucosamine sulfate may provide synergistic benefits for halting the progression of osteoarthritis.2

MSM

MSM is a naturally occurring organic sulfur compound that is white, odorless, essentially tasteless and water soluble. It serves as an important bioavailable source of dietary sulphur.

MSM is Essential

Sulfur is an element present in all living organisms. To perform properly and efficiently, our bodies need a constant intake of easily available sulphur. Sulfur belongs in the same chemical family as oxygen. For organisms living in an environment where there is no oxygen, sulfur often replaces oxygen as the source of chemical energy that drives life.

Benefits:

  • It plays an indispensable, yet often overlooked, role in human nutrition, maintaining the conformation of the body’s proteins (collagen) by forming flexible disulfide bonds between certain amino acids. Adequate stores of sulfur are critical in maintaining the integrity of connective tissue.

  • Thiol (i.e. sulphydryl) groups are vital for the catalytic function of many of the body’s enzymes.

  • Sulfur is required for proper assimilation of the alpha amino acids methionine and cysteine. In addition, the peptide hormone, insulin, requires sulfur in its molecular structure and numerous other proteins, catalysts and enzymes incorporate sulfur into their molecular framework. These proteins are essential for proper cellular metabolism and soft tissue synthesis.

  • In addition to helping maintain the structure of the body’s protein, sulfur is essential in the formation of keratin which is essential for hair and nail growth.

  • It also aids in the production of immunoglobulin which maintains the normal immune system.

  • It catalyzes the chemical reactions which change food into energy and helps neutralize and eliminate toxins from the body.

MSM is a transport molecule for elemental sulfur, an easy assimilated source of essential sulfur. Proper protein synthesis can only be achieved with MSM monomers which maintain the correct molecular framework for soft and connective tissue throughout the human body.

Bromelain

Bromelain refers to a mixture of enzymes found in pineapple. Since its introduction as a medicinal agent in 1957, over two hundred scientific papers about its therapeutic applications have appeared in medical literature. Various studies report that Bromelain exerts a wide variety of beneficial effects, including the reduction of inflammation in cases of rheumatoid arthritis.3 Bromelain is a protease-containing enzyme, which may account for its anti-inflammatory effects which include the inhibition of pro inflammatory compounds. Bromelain has been shown to prevent swelling by activating compounds that break down fibrin.4 By decreasing fibrin, Bromelain helps promote circulation and post-traumatic re-absorption of inflammatorily by-products. This allows for a speedier recovery time after injury.5 Bromelain also blocks the production of Kinins.6 Kinins are compounds produced during inflammation that increase swelling and cause pain.

Boswellia

The anti-inflammatory phytonutrient. Boswellia serrata (Indian Frankincense) is a large, branching deciduous tree that grows in the dry, hilly parts of India. The gum resin of Boswellia serrata, known in the vernacular, is "salai guggul", has been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for the treatment of rheumatism, respiratory and liver disorders.
