Whole Food, Plant-Based Diet...Sounds Familiar

There are hundreds of diets out there today, and lots of them can be a successful way of eating for many. Most people choose a diet based on their own habits and what aligns with their's the most. Some pick a diet that avoids a certain complaint about food, like hormone injections in meat, which is an unfortunate modification in our food nowadays. And some just want to try something different.

One diet out there that's becoming more well known with documentaries and media is the whole food, plant-based diet. It's a good one, but not that different than another that's much more popular...

What is Whole Food, Plant-Based Diet?

It's exactly that - a diet based on eating whole, unrefined plants. That means your diet would consist of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and some nuts and seeds. You'd be cutting out of the diet meat, dairy, and any sugary or processed foods. But that sounds really familiar...

It's called the vegan diet. It's just being titled something else.

Don't Be Fooled

It's always recommended to eat fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. and to stay away from dairy, sugar, processed foods, or meat with antibiotics / hormones. That's always going to be the case for a natural, nutrient-rich diet. But beware, this whole food, plant-based diet sometimes recommends eating gluten, caffeine, coffee, and oats (contains gluten) - all of which are NOT good, for anyone!

Enjoy this diet if you'd like, because this (and a vegan diet) is a great food plan. We simply advise to not follow it (or anything else) blindly - if something's not good for you, it's not good 100% of the time. Meaning, use your own judgement and if it says to eat something bad, like candy for the sake of an obvious example, and you know it's bad, just avoid consuming that, because that's ridiculous.

Extra note - we have seen the best success with eating according to your blood type AND food combining properly as shown in our Guide to Smart Food Choices book. We just want you to know that a vegan diet and the whole food, plant-based diet go hand-in-hand with this. They do not conflict at all, because you can be on these diets and still stick with the foods that work well with you blood type, plus food combining is actually easier to do since you've eliminated eating meat in those diets.

So, live it up and enjoy these healthy lifestyles :)

Lemon Water

Major Benefits of Lemon Water in the Morning!

It's so simple, but packs a punch! Just squeezing half a lemon into some warm water and drinking it in the morning does a number of beneficial things for your body. Some of the best things are so simple.*

  1. Natural Energizer - This hydrates and provides nutrients to your body that you probably don't get with that bowl of cereal you eat in the morning, or that muffin, and definitely not when you skip eating anything! It'll give you a great jumpstart to your day!*
  2. Flushes out unwanted materials - The body cleanses at night when we sleep. Our organs keep working, processing everything, and trying to move things along. When we drink lemon water, this aids in flushing all this out as well as hydrating and fueling the organs, which will help everything perform better.*
  3. Balances pH levels - It is an easy solution to helping your pH level in your body. You can simply eat more fruits and vegetables to make your body more alkaline. That'll do it. This is simply part of that.*
  4. Aids in weight loss - With the flushing action that this combination provides, this also aids the body's own natural slimming action.*
  5. Boosts immune system - Lemons pack a ton of Vitamin C. That's one of the best things we can put in our bodies. So, to start the day off getting a lot of Vitamin C is so powerful for an energizing day, as well as to help boost and empower our immune system.*
  6. Beneficial for skin - We're made up of mostly water. What happens to a plant that doesn't get any water?! It dries up! So do we if we don't hydrate. This is vitally important to maintain good elasticity and for the skin to stay youthful and healthy.*
  7. Aids digestion - The digestive tract is a fluid channel. It moves all our nutrients along, as well as our waste. Part of all this is the section in the middle with our stomach and intestines. Lemon water will go in and hydrate, lubricate, get things moving along, and be a spark to helping our digestive system function properly.*

Start making it a habit when you wake up. Get to the kitchen, heat up a glass of water, squeeze half a lemon in it, sit down, drink, and get ready to take on the day!

Get Great Energy with Ionic Trace Minerals!

Get Great Energy with Ionic Trace Minerals!

Experts Say

Experts estimate that 90 percent of Americans suffer from mineral imbalance and deficiency. If you are one of them, whether because of frequent exercise, stress, or a diet of overly refined, nutrient-poor foods – your body will attempt to correct the situation in futility, usually resulting in food cravings, muscle cramps, and general fatigue.

What To Do

You can start by making sure you are getting enough ionic trace minerals in your diet. Ionic trace minerals are minerals or elements that have been positively or negatively charged and in very small, balanced trace amounts are critical to your health.

Depletion of Minerals

Unfortunately in today’s world, naturally occurring, nutrient-rich soil is becoming increasingly rare. Eons of vegetation growth and aggressive modern farming techniques have brought many of the earth’s minerals to the surface where they have been washed away.

Synthesized fertilizers are routinely applied to farms and fields where minerals have been depleted. But man-made fertilizers provide only enough mineral substance to support basic plant life. Numerous trace minerals essential to human life don’t get replenished.

Abundance of Minerals

Although trace minerals are no longer as plentiful in the foods we eat, they do exist plentifully in their proper proportions, the same basic proportions that are found in healthy human bodies, in the mineral-rich waters of the earth’s oceans and seas. In a few surviving inland seas such as the Great Salt Lake of western North America, these essential elements exist in highly concentrated, salubrious proportions. This healthy, intricately balanced proportion of mineral and trace elements found in sea water is beneficial to the human body.

Today, these life-sustaining sea waters contain all the mineral and elements necessary to support human life. Most importantly, all these minerals and elements are ionic and in perfect balance-prime for being absorbed into the cells of your body.

Importance of Ionic Minerals

Every second of every day your body relies on ionic minerals and trace mineral to conduct and generate billions of tiny electrical impulses. Without these impulses, not a single muscle, including your heart, would be able to function. Your brain would not function and the cells would not be able to use osmosis to balance your water pressure and absorb nutrients.

Trace minerals do not exist by themselves but in relationship to one another. Too much of one trace element can lead to imbalances in others resulting in disease, rather than the absence of disease. Most trace elements need to be in ionic form to be well absorbed in the intestines.

Proper Absorption

The absorption of minerals primarily takes place within the small intestines. As food matter passes through the walls of the intestines by way of the villi. This can only happen if the minerals are in an ionic form.

Although stomach acid helps ionize the minerals in foods, a mineral supplement should contain already naturally ionized minerals to be fully absorbed.

Great Source for the Good Fats!

Great Source for the Good Fats!

Fish Oil is one of the best sources for these "Good Fats" the Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's). It is important to choose one that has high quality, purity and stability. A good tasting, EPA/DHA, Omega 3, 6, 9, lemon flavored, fish oil, that is molecularly distilled to remove dioxins, PCBs and other possible toxic material, to ensure purity and quality.  It is especially important to take fish oil to obtain EPA/DHA.

What are EPA/DHA?

EPA and DHA are n-3 fatty acids which stand for docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid. These n-3 fatty acids are Omega 3 fat, which are found in cold water fish. EPA and DHA are highly unsaturated fat because they contain 6 and 5 double bonds on their long structural chain. These polyunsaturated fats play a very important role with the function of our bodies.

EPA and DHA are vital nutrients and may be taken to maintain healthy function of the brain and retina. DHA is a building block of tissue in the brain and retina of the eye. It helps with forming neural transmitters, such as phosphatidylserine, which is important for brain function. DHA is found in the retina of the eye and taking DHA may be necessary for maintaining healthy levels of DHA for normal eye function.

Cardiovascular System

EPA and DHA are converted into hormone-like substances called prostaglandins, which help regulate cell activity and healthy cardiovascular function.

Human Growth and Intellectual Development

DHA plays a very important role during fetal development, early infancy, and old age. High concentrations of DHA are found in the brain and increases 300-500% in an infant's brain during the last trimester of pregnancy. Adding DHA to a pregnant mothers diet may be beneficial for the fetus's brain development. Elderly people should also take EPA DHA, because as we get older, our bodies form less DHA and EPA, which may cause less mental focus and cognitive function. Taking EPA DHA may also help with mental abnormalities, such as Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia. So everyone can benefit from taking EPA and DHA.

Additional Benefits

EPA and DHA has also been shown to be a great source of energy, and to help insulate the body against heat loss, prevent skin from drying and flaking, and cushion tissues and organs.

Deficiency Issues

Without EFAs, deficiency symptoms will develop. Signs of EFA deficiency can include eczema and other skin disorders, hair loss, organ damage, impaired reproductive function, increased triglyceride and cholesterol levels, increased blood pressure and neurological dysfunction.

Digest Right!

Digestion is really important stuff! It's what our body does to break down food so it can move through our intestinal tract (stomach, small intestine and colon). Sometimes the body has difficulty doing this and needs some help or a change in lifestyle. If you don't think so, just think back to any time you've been bloated, constipated, had diarrhea, acid reflux (heart burn), felt compacted, or couldn't go to the bathroom well. Having second thoughts now?! Yep. Those are all things going on in the intestinal tract.*

Knowing that, you can do some little things that can go a long way for your comfort and health to ensure you have a good day, everyday* :)

1 - Good Diet

The first thing would be to eat well. And you might be saying, "Okay. Well, what does that mean?! Easier said than done, because there's a lot of diets out there!" I hear you loud and clear. We have been around lots of diets over the years, and they all come and go, but one thing remains the same - we all basically have the same organs, have to eat food to survive, and go to the bathroom. It's the body's way of living well. Taking in the good and pushing out the bad, through an assembly line of organs. All of which have a specific job or more. The more we can eat in a way that supports these functions and not create difficult situations, the better we'll be.*

The two diet recommendations we've seen that are the most effective and simply makes sense are*:

  • Food combining properly
  • Eat according to your blood type

People can see benefit with either one of these, but we've noticed they work best together!* CLICK HERE if you'd like to find out more on these two concepts or view our book "Guide to Smart Food Choices."

2 - Enzymes & Probiotics!

Yes! Our bodies produce these naturally, but it's a great idea to supply more to our body, because this will only help the body digest our processed, organic or not, everyday foods. And the probiotics will help support the good bacteria in the body and support a good immune system! All positive points there.*

Together, enzyme supplements and probiotic supplements help support a balanced digestive system and a healthier you.*

3 - Go to the Bathroom!!

Very important this one. Most of the world is uncomfortable talking about this subject, but not us! Let's go over this.

Poop, fecal matter, feces, waste - it's poisons and toxins - bad stuff. You don't want poisons nor toxins in your body. It was food that we ate, and then the body took all the nutrients out of it to get energy and survive, then it transformed it into what you see in the bathroom. The body has no use for it anymore, so it gets rid of it.*

When we don't get it out, all that waste stays in our body, mostly the colon (large intestine) and as a result of it staying in there our body can absorb the toxins from our colon. As you can imagine, that would not be a good thing.*

So, what do I do? Well, the 2 points stated above (good diet, enzymes & probiotics) will help this situation. You can also incorporate drinking more water (we recommend a gallon every day), but sometimes the body needs extra help in performing this natural action. You could get different herbs from the store that you can either eat naturally, get them in some form like liquid or powder, or simply get a supplement that has them. Ones that are known to help regularity are cascara sagrada, senna, psyllium, aloe vera, barberry, slippery elm, rhubarb and others.*

We offer a colon cleanser that has all these and is our most popular product - Colon Magic. It's a safe, gentle, effective, non-habit-forming, herbal formula to help cleanse, feed, stimulate, and rebuild the tissue and muscles of the stomach, small intestine, colon and gastrointestinal tract.*

Whatever way you incorporate these 3 principles, great! We want you to have healthy success!
